Douglas County CMP IOG Poverty Simulation

Poverty or financial hardship is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you’ve experienced this reality firsthand, it’s difficult to truly understand. This interactive immersion experience bridges that gap from misconception to understanding.  During the simulation, participants will role-play a month in poverty and experience low-income families’ challenges. After the simulation, you will unpack your learning and brainstorm community change. The goal of this experience is to shift the paradigm about poverty away from being seen as a personal failure and toward a better understanding of how poverty impacts our neighbors and community.
